Hi :)
I am trying to piece together the branches of my family tree and would like to submit an inquiry regarding my maternal grandfather's family. My grandfather was born in Nevada, MO.
My grandfather was John Mitchell Wilber, born in Nevada, MO in 09/04/1892. His parents were John Wilber and Martha Ann Wilber.
The Wilber family was originally from Indiana and Illinois, but sometime between 1880 and 1892 they moved to Vernon County, and apparently around or in Nevada. It seems likely they came there with John Wilber Sr.'s brother Benjamin Wilber or with his nephew Charles R. Wilber. I'm afraid I don't know anything about them during those years. They were farmers before and after the Vernon County years, and it's possible that was their occupation while in Vernon County. During the Civil War, in 1864, both Benjamin and John Wilber were mustered in the 135th Illinois Infantry and assigned to duty guarding the Iron Mountain railroad near the Osage and Gasconade crossings. Prior to that, the brothers had lived in Illinois, so it's possible that it was their time in Missouri in 1864 that sparked the later desire to move to the area. After they left Vernon County, they moved to Washington County, Arkansas, which was not that far away from Vernon County.
So if your records have any information on my grandfather and great-grandparents and their family during their years in Nevada and Vernon County, I would be very appreciative of receiving that. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply with your questions.

I am seeking information on a Eliza Ann Sisson Koontz that was suppose to have died in Vernon, Co. somewhere between 1880-1899. The only thing I found on the Koontz family at the Archives was Back Taxes Index of 1893. I am wondering if this back tax has anything to do with Eliza Ann Sisson Koontz.
Any information will be great appreciated.

I just wrote a query. Here is some more information ELIZA ANN SISSON d. August 18, 1891, Richards, Vernon Co. Missouri. She was b. April 11, 1808 in Sissonville, Kanawha Co. Virginia.
I am wondering if she is on the 1890 census. She may have been in the home of her children. I also noticed like I said before that the surname Koontz was on Vernon County, Mo back Taxes Index of 1893. I am wondering if she is buried in Vernon Co. and if she owned property or some other family member owned property in Vernon County.
Thanks for any help.
