My husband's grandfather was born in Vernon County, Jan. 1872. His name was William Gardiner or Gardner. We are trying to find out what his parents' names were, as they died when he was about 8 or 10, presumably about 1880 or 1882. They died of the same illness a few weeks apart. Thank you for your time.

Please help me if you can. Where can I look? I am new to genealogy, but have looked in records and even visited Vernon County Courthouse in the 1960's. I am seeking records of paternal great great grandmother Rebecca Jane Groomes, who, according to cemetery records was born in Vernon County, Missouri on July 18, 1856. She married Thomas Callahan Thomas (origin unknown) and moved ot Kansas City Missouri where a child was born in 1877. Her father was reported to be Joe Groomes, or Grooms.

She had a half sister Elsie Ann Clark, who was my maternal great great grandmother

Accoding to family history, there was Indian ancestry, possibly Cherokee, somewhere in one of these grandparents' lines.

A search of the census records from 1850 through 1870 revealed no information on either of the above.

Thank you very much.

I am just beginning the family genealogy of my family and would appreciate any help. My father born Nevada, Vernon, MO William Horace Wood III 1923, married Mary Patricia Cook born Cochran, Ontario, Canada. G-father had 4 brothers, "Buddy", Dallas, Douglas, and Jack. A sister Virginia Wood Simms was born in Nevada.

My great-grandparents, ALEXANDER GIVENS ANDERSON and MARY RISCELLA (PRISELLA) ROBERTS were married in Nevada, MO October 17, 1858. Do you have any information about them?
