  John Wray & Caroline Emily Caton marriage record: Vernon County Missouri Marriage Record Book A, p. 41.

 

 

Mrs. Caroline Emily (Caton) Wray & Peter Teel marriage record: Vernon County Missouri Marriage Record Book F, p. 251.

 

 

 

Caroline Emily Caton was born Sep. 16, 1833, the daughter of Noah and Frances McDermid Caton.  She died Feb. 7, 1915 in Albany, Linn Co, Oregon.

 

Mary Ella Wray was brutally murdered Nov. 28, 1888 in Vernon County by George Godfrey Korbe who also took his own life.  In the days following her murder, extensive newspaper stories were published in both the local newspapers and regional papers.

 

James Noah Wray was born Feb. 28, 1867 in Vernon Co., MO, and died Dec. 22, 1939 in Eugene, Lane Co., OR.

 

Anna Wray was born about 1869 and died after 1930. She married Charles James Butler in about 1890 in Eugene, OR.

 

Can someone please provide copies of the obituaries of these Wray family members?

 

 

**NEW**  An ejectment court case was filed by Nancy E. Bracken (granddaughter of Noah Caton) and Charles F. Bracken, her husband, against Emily Wray (daughter of Noah Caton and Fannie McDermid Caton) and her husband John Wray and B. Y. Estes in the Vernon County, Missouri Circuit Court, February term 1875.  A brief synopsis of the documents is at this link.  A copy of the documents in the court file packet are at this link (a large file).

Picture of Will Wray, son of John Wray and his first wife, Hester Ann Carter Wray.  William E. Wray was born about 1848. This picture was probably also taken about 1879.
