     ---Died, at  her home in Blue Mound township, Monday, Dec. 30th, of pneumonia, Mrs. David Messer, at an advanced age. The remains were interred at Flat Rock cemetery.

Mrs. Ed Landes Funeral Held; Died Tuesday A.M.

     Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Dr. A. A. Duncan conducting the services for Mrs. Ed R. Landes of 725 south Third street, who died Tuesday morning.

     Mrs. Landes was born in Kansas and celebrated her 69th birthday last week. She has been a resident of McAlester since 1913.

     Surviving are her children: Mrs. Ruth L. Griggs of this city, George Landes Ives of Bartlesville, Lena Landes Blake of Washington, D. C., Guy M. Landes of Tulsa and Ernest R. Landes of Dallas: her sisters Mrs. Lyman Terrill of this city, Mrs. Mary Brown of Denver and a brother Charles H. Messer of Oakland, Cal.

     Interment was held at Schell City, Mo., Thursday.

FORMER RESIDENT DIED IN M'ALLISTER, OKLA.

Wednesday's Daily Mail and Post.

     Mrs. Clara Landes, a pioneer resident of Vernon county, passed away Tuesday morning in McAllister, Okla., after a long illness, according to a message received by Dr. Janes C. H. Hatten.  Mrs. Landes was for many years a resident of Schell City but recently has made her home in Oklahoma. She leaves four children. Mrs. Landes body will be brought to Schell City for burial and the funeral services will be held there Thursday.

     The deceased was a sister of Mrs. Lydia Musser Terrill, widow of the late James Terrill, who was formerly a well known Vernon county teacher and taught at Mobley schoolhouse sixty years ago.

Pioneer Teacher Dies in Tulsa

     Last rites will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist church in McAlester for Mrs. Lydia Terrill, 85, pioneer school teacher of the McAlester area, who died Thursday in a Tulsa hospital.

     Mrs. Terrill retired after teaching 45 years. She came to Tulsa three years ago, and resided with a niece, Mrs. Ruth L. Griggs, 1227 E. Thirty-sixth pl.

     Surviving also are two other nieces, Mrs. Earl Ives of Bartlesville and Mrs. William T. Blake of New Orleans, La., and two nephews, Guy M. Landes of 2145 E. Thirty-seventh st., and Ernest Landes of St. Paul, Minn.

     Interment will be in Crowder, directed by the Mowbray-Manning Funeral home

MRS. LYDIA TERRILL PASSED AWAY IN TULSA, OKLA.

     Mrs. W. A. Terrill has received word that her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lydia Terrill, passed away in Tulsa, Okla., at the home of a niece, Mrs. Ruth L. Griggs., The funeral was held last Sunday in McAlester, and burial in Crowler, Okla., beside her husband, the late James Terrill. The deceased was a resident of Nevada for many years.

PAWNEE COUNTY PIONEER DIES IN CALIFORNIA

     Mrs. Mary Sue Messer, who came to Pawnee from Missouri with her father, W, R. Roberson, in 1893, died in an Oakland, Calif., hospital on July 29, after an illness of about two weeks. She was 78 years of age.

     She was married in 1894 to Charles H. Messer, who had homesteaded a farm seven miles northwest of Pawnee. They made their home on this farm until about 1916 when they moved to Denver, Colo. The family still own the farm.

     While they were living in Colorado, a daughter, Miss Gladys Messer, a son, Charlene, and Mr. Messer passed away. Another son, Emery, had died while they were living in this county.

     After the death of Mr. Messer, Mrs. Messer and a son and two daughters went to Oakland where the surviving children now make their home. They are: The son, Allen Robert, the daughter, Mrs. Ida May Japfe, and Mrs. Eddieree Troxel.

     Mrs. Messer visited relatives and friends here about 12 years ago. She was a sister of the late Mrs. Adah Frost of Pawnee.

     She was taken to Denver for burial beside the husband and two children.
