 DEATH OF E. KLEEN

Passed Away Thursday Morning After a Lingering Illness.

     Ernest Kleen died at 8:15 o'clock Thursday morning of lung trouble, after an illness of several months.  Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. M. A. Wolfe at the home at 2 o'clock this afternoon.  Interment will be at Balltown cemetery.

     John Ernest Detrich Kleen was born at Hanover, Germany, November 31, 1841, and was therefore aged 64 years, 3 months and 1 day.  He came to America when but a boy and located in New York state.  In 1861 he enlisted in a New York regiment and served three years in the war between the states.  He also served three years in the regular army.  He came to Missouri in 1870.  On August 24, 1874, he was married to Miss Mattie Charles.  Six children were born to them, all of whom were at his bedside with their mother during the last hours of his illness.  They are:  Mrs. Della Bingle of Wyandotte, I.T.; Mrs. Rosa Bowers of May, this state, and Mrs. Birdie Darr, and John, Loyd and Arthur Kleen of Metz.

     Deceased was a member of the G. A. R. and comrades of Mt. McGregor post will act as pall bearers.

     Mr. Kleen was a good citizen, a kind and considerate husband and father and made friends with all whom he came in contact.
