FORDA PATTON EARL
TRIBUTE TO FORDA PATTON EARL
The death of F. P. Earl, son of Representative and Mrs. A. J. Earl, occurred in Lewistown, Mont.
He was taken seriously ill and on Tuesday the 10th he was taken to the Brice Hospital and operated on for appendicitis. Apparently the operation was successful until unforeseen complications ensued with his death as a result on Saturday, the 14th.
"His soul to him who gave it rose,
God lead it to its long; repose,
Its glorious rest."
Mr. Earl was born in Anita, Iowa, May 9th, 1883 and for many years was a student in the Anita schools, where with his happy disposition and smiling face he was a general favorite among pupils and teachers.
At about 14 years of age, with a class of 20 young people, he united with the Congregational church of which his parents, brother and sister were members.
He came to Milo with his parents in 1904.
He was married to Miss Emily Crenshaw, of Montevallo in 1907.
The young people soon went west to Billings, Mont., and after several years residing there they went to Anaconda and purchased a home and has since lived there with Mr. Earl in connection with a hardware store there.
Mr. Earl was ambitious to own his own business and worked hard with that point in view, hence his trip to Lewistown and his untimely death while there. His faithful and loving wife was at his bedside and he was conscious until the last few moments and he sent many loving and tender messages to his loved ones, some so far away. Of his mother he said, "Tell the little mother it couldn't be helped."
Some day we will understand, but just now we wonder why a bright, ambitious young man who was progressive and interested in all good work for the betterment of humanity, also in church and Sunday school work where his voice will be missed in the choir, where he counted his friends by the legion, where he had so much to live for.
We wonder why the curtain of night has fallen around him, why his young life might not have been spared just a little longer.
The sorrowing young wife, accompanied by Mrs. Roy Hatfield and little ones, of Edgar, Mont., arrived with the casket Tuesday noon. On Wednesday at 2 p. m. the funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Earl where many many friends assembled to sympathize with the grief stricken family. One brother, R. G. Earl, two sisters, Mrs. Imojean Younger, of Frannic, Wyo., and Mrs. Roy Hatfield are till spared. Mrs. Younger was unable to come on account of sickness.
Dr. J. J. Marten conducted the funeral services and we know that his comforting words have done much to lighten the burden of sorrow which now rests upon the bereaved family. But in the brightness of the Eternal morning when the heart broken wife, his parents, brother and sisters, and those of us who have known and loved him all his life shall see him again.
We have that precious promise of Heaven's rest and eternal joy that Christ gives his own and Ford has solved the problem and has entered the portals from whence no traveler returns.
He is sleeping in the beautiful Newton Burial Park, at Nevada until the last great day.
