DR. E. A. DULIN

From the 1887 History of Vernon County, Missouri, p. 636:

Dr. E. A. Dulin

(Physician and Surgeon, Nevada).

A native of Washington, D. C., Dr. Dulin was born on the 19th of December, 1843, the eldest of six children now living in the family of his parents, Charles W. Dulin and wife, whose maiden name was Mary H. Barnhouse; they were each Virginians by birth. Young Dulin was principally reared at Washington City, there also receiving his education, after which he commenced a business experience in a drug store. Previous to this, however, desiring to devote himself to a professional life, he has commenced the study of medicine under Dr. James E. Morgan, with whose assistance he made rapid progress until prepared to enter upon a regular medical course. Attending lectures at the medical department of Georgetown University, he was graduated in the class of 1865, following which he received the appointment of assistant surgeon in the United States Navy Yard at Washington. After some five or six months in this capacity Dr. D. was assigned to duty on ship board, engaged in a three years’ cruise, and during the last year of his service he visited the West Indies and South America. Upon returning to Washington he was engaged for one year in the practice of his profession, and afterwards a settlement was chosen at Lexington, MO. In 1876 he went to St. Joseph, where he remained until coming to Nevada in 1882. Since then he has closely applied himself to his chosen calling, meeting with encouraging success and taking a leading place among prominent physicians of this portion of the State. He has manifested a pardonable pride in the good name and high character of the medical profession, and is now connected with the Medical Society of Northwest Missouri and the State Medical Society. May 15, 1872, Dr. Dulin was married to Miss Flora Lightner, of Lexington, Mo., daughter of James S. Lightner. They have three children: Charles W., Edgar A., and Flora L. The Doctor at present holds the position of Worshipful Master of Osage Lodge A. F. and A. M.
