J. T. DOWNEY DIED

IN KANSAS CITY.

    Downey--Joel Thomas Downey, a pioneer of Kansas city, died yesterday morning at the home of his son, A. T. Downey, 1801 East Thirty-ninth Street.  Mr. Downey was 84 years old.  He served in the Civil War under General Price.  Surviving besides his son, are two daughters, miss Anna Downey, 1801 East Thirty-ninth Street and Mrs. Samuel Blassberger, 2215 Cambridge Avenue Rosedale, Kas., and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Akinner, 6703 Washington Park Boulevard, Mount Washington and Mrs. Martha Alverson of Prescott, Kas.  The funeral will be at the home of his son.  Burial will be at Nevada, Mo., says the Kansas City Star.

     Mr. Downey was a former resident of Nevada.  The remains arrived here Wednesday and were interred in Click's Cemetery.
