LEWIS F. CORBIN
From the 1887 History of Vernon County, Missouri, p. 461 Lewis F. Corbin (Farmer and Stock-raiser, Section 13, Post-office, Eldorado Springs). Mr. Corbin’s parents were John and Julia A. (Prouty) Corbin, whose marriage occurred in Ohio. The father, one of five children, was born in Virginia, while the mother came originally from Vermont. After leaving the Buckeye State they became settled in Iowa for a short time but soon returned to Ohio, from whence they came to the county in 1871. Lewis F. was one of six children, the others in the family being Orlando C., Mary E., Martha V., John P. and Dicy V. His birth occurred in Franklin county, O., November 30, 1857, and during his youthful days he spent his time upon a farm, attending the common schools of the vicinity of his home. August 26, 1880, he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah F. Busbee, an estimable young lady and a native of Vernon county, born July 14, 1861. Her father, Moses Busbee, an old settler here and extensive landholder, is frequently mentioned in other portions of this work. Her mother, whose maiden name was Esther Drinnen, came originally from Tennessee. Mr. and Mrs. Corbin have one child, Orie Andrew, born January 5, 1883. Mr. C. now owns eighty acres of good land where he resides and judging from his past career it needs no gift of prophecy to predict for him a successful future. In his political preferences he is a Democrat. His wife belongs to the Baptist Church. Mr. Corbin’s grandparents were William and Barbara (Dake) Corbin, of Shenandoah county, Va., the latter’s ancestors having originated in Germany. His great-grandfather, Thomas Corbin, originally from England, married a Miss Ginens. His father’s brothers and sisters were Elizabeth A., Thomas J., Frances and Henry H.
